12 Ways That Our Bodies Tell Us We Are Too Stressed
Did you know studies have found that those who experience things like anxiety and stress are likely to tense and constrict their muscles? This can cause cramps and other issues overtime.
Do you suffer from stress related headaches? Stress is not something that goes away without being addressed. Sometimes your stress can even be caused by different body parts.
Chronic pain can be caused by stress according to a study done by Dr. Susanne Babbel. She states that “physical pain functions to warn a person that there is still emotional work to be done.”
This is what your body might be telling you based off of Dr. Babbel’s theory:
Your Head
When you have a headache it can often be the result of worrying about small things. Relaxing is the best way to deal with this.
Your Neck
When you have a neckache it is often related to holding grudges.
Your Shoulders
Making tough decisions can and will take a toll on your shoulders. Sharing your problems with someone close to you will help lighten the load.
Your Lower Back
Pain in the lower back can be caused by the fear of loss or obsession over money. Financial worries are severely damaging to a person’s health as well as their relationships. Money does not buy happiness.
Your Upper Back
Upper back pain can be the result of feeling unappreciated. Experiencing a lack of support can hurt a person in many ways. Do not hold back words of affection.
Your Elbows
Humans often are stubborn when it comes to new things in general. Significant changes can be scary, this can cause joint pain.
Your Hands
You may suffer hand pain as the result of lack of companionship. Making friends may be the answer you need.
Your Knees
Knee pain can be the result of an inflated ego. Be aware that you are not the center of the world and all eyes do not have to be on you. Being aware of this will leave you feeling much more fulfilled.
Your Hips
When we are dealing with new situations our hips may become sore or in pain. This seems to signify a slight fear of change. Do not procrastinate big decisions. You will be just fine if you go ahead and get things over with.
Your Calves
If you are feeling possessive or jealous in a relationship your calves may hurt. This boils down to trusting one another. If you cannot trust the person you are with it is time to move on.
Your Ankles
This is a sign you need to pay more attention to yourself. You are never too busy to take care of yourself emotionally and physically.
Your Feet
Feet pain can be linked with apathy as it tries to keep our bodies from moving forward. Our feet seem to only hurt when everything is going in the wrong direction.
If you are dealing with unexplainable pain in any of these twelve areas you may need to evaluate your emotional state rather than your physical. When you fix the inside you are also fixing the outside. Stress can cause severe tension in all of the areas listed above. Instead of eating Tylenol try to take a day of relaxation. Cure your pain by reducing your stress levels. Listen to your body!
