How Sunscreen Could be Causing Cancer, Not The Sun

Summer is well on its way, that being said it is time we get back to protecting our skin. Now for most people they assume drenching themselves in sunscreen will do the trick but could it be doing the opposite?

We are encouraged every step of the way by corporate marketing campaigns to use sunscreen, this means it must be what we need, right? WRONG! Of course, we need to protect our skin but we should not be fearing the sun to the extent that we do. Blocking out the sun completely is not ideal. The vitamin D we obtain from the sun is needed for many different reasons.

The commercial sunscreen products we see on store shelves today are generally all baths of toxic hormone-disrupting chemicals. Everything that we put on our skin ends up inside our bodies so why are we dousing ourselves in chemicals? One study, in particular, that was conducted at the Faculty of Pharmacy at the University of Manitoba, Canada took the time to seek out a method for quantifying common sunscreen agents. The results they got demonstrated a very significant penetration of all sunscreen agents into the skin of those involved in the study.

The hormone-disrupting chemicals mentioned above include things like oxybenzone, triclosan, parabens, phthalates, and tons of other dangerous chemicals. All of these are found in the most popular sunscreens, no one is safe. These dangerous chemicals making their way into our bloodstreams are without a doubt something to be concerned about. You see, things like oxybenzone have been found to mimic the effects of estrogen in the body and promote the growth of cancer cells.

While sunburn is not something we want to happen exposure to the sun can in some ways prevent you from developing cancer. Several studies have confirmed this and yes when exposed to an appropriate amount of sun you are protecting yourself from skin cancer. If you want to get out in the sun and avoid using those dangerous commercially produced chemical baths the corporate world is passing off as sunscreen try the natural homemade sunscreen below.
