This Popular Moisturizer Applied to Mice for 17 Weeks Developed 69% More Cancerous Tumors

by in Beauty, Health December 2, 2016

A recent study has found that certain moisturizers and lotions can dramatically increase your chance to grow cancerous tumors.

Researchers tested leading moisturizers such as; Dermabase, Dermovan, Eucerin, and Vanicream on mice. All of which significantly increased tumor growth on the mice.

The lab mice were all given the moisturizers over a 17 week period. The rate of tumor growth on the mice rose above a 69% increase. The common ingredient the lotions share is thought to cause this reaction. All of the lotions contain mineral oils.

The Authors Said:

“The results indicate that several commercially available moisturizing creams increase the rate of formation and number of tumors when applied topically to UVB-pretreated high-risk mice. Further studies are needed to determine the effects of topical applications of moisturizing creams on sunlight-induced skin cancer in humans”

You can be put at even greater risk of cancer if you use these lotions in combination with sun exposure. Although some sunscreens have mineral oils in them, you are at lesser risk if you use UV protection on your skin. The study was published in the Journal of Investigative Dermatology. It stated that commonly used moisturizers containing mineral oils are tumorigenic when applied topically to UVB pretreated mice.

When it comes to skin care, try using these natural ingredients. You may find yourself with better results and healthier skin.
