When we boil water the chemical properties of it change, but if you continue to boil it, or boil it many times it can be dangerous for you to consume! It concentrates the water into harmful chemicals instead of getting rid of them, like boiling fresh water does. The chemicals that are left there can be poisonous to your health. It mainly consists of a combination of arsenic, nitrates, and fluoride.

Water fluoridation is already really harmful to your health. According to a 500-page scientific review, fluoride is an endocrine disruptor that can affect your bones, brain, thyroid gland, pineal gland and even your blood sugar levels! Reboiling fluoridated water only makes it worse! If you’re going to boil water, boil purified water and never reboil it! Pour it out and use fresh!

The New Male Birth Control Shot Is Here, And It Actually Works

Usually it falls on the women to prioritize Birth Control, but things are changing! According to a new study man can take birth control shots to prevent pregnancy in their female partners.

According to a study published in the Endocrine Society’s Journal of Endocrinology & Metabolism, men can now take birth control shots to prevent pregnancy!

The shot is currently being perfected, but the shot has succeeded in lowering a man’s sperm count and had a success rate of 96%. Here is what you need to know about the study, and what you need to know to figure out if the male birth control shot is right for you.

Women have a lot of options at their disposal when it comes to birth control, like female condoms, IUDs, patches, and of course, the Pill. Men basically just had condoms and pulling out, and if they wanted something more permanent, vasectomies. Men and women deserve better than this, the responsibility should not fall solely on the women.

Researchers tested the safety and effectiveness of a contraceptive shot in 320 healthy men in monogamous relationships with female partners. The shot contained two hormones, and it worked pretty well. It knocked down their sperm counts significantly, and there were only a handful of pregnancies among partners of men in the trial.

According to the Guttmacher Institute, 40% of all pregnancies in 2012 were unintentional. That proves that there is really something that can be done here, which is why the researchers have been trying to find a breakthrough for male birth control for so long.

“The study found it is possible to have a hormonal contraceptive for men that reduces the risk of unplanned pregnancies in the partners of men who use it,” said one of the study’s authors, Mario Philip Reyes Festin, MD, of the World Health Organization in Geneva, Switzerland. “Our findings confirmed the efficacy of this contraceptive method previously seen in small studies.”

The hormones were able to lower sperm count to under 1 million within 24 weeks in 274 participants. Additionally, 96% of continuing users were successful in preventing pregnancy.

But, get this! A lot of men were actually dropping out of the study because they were experiencing certain side effects. The most common side effect was acne, then there were mood swings and in some cases weight gain.

There has been a lot of eye rolling on the internet about these side effects because women have been experiencing things like mood swings and weight gain for decades because of birth control.

“More research is needed to advance this concept to the point that it can be made widely available to men as a method of contraception,” Festin said. “Although the injections were effective in reducing the rate of pregnancy, the combination of hormones needs to be studied more to consider a good balance between efficacy and safety.”

Diets High In Carbs are Linked to Increased Risk for Dementia, Cancer and Alzheimer’s Disease

The two most dangerous things we see the most might be linked together. Carbohydrates are packed in almost everything we eat today, cancer is the second leading cause of death in the United States. New studies show that Carbohydrates might be the cause of this deadly disease.

According to Mercola, carbohydrates cause nearly all age related diseases. Many people might consider it normal to develop something as common as cancer, but it isn’t. These diseases are caused by a sinister called carbohydrates. Carbohydrates are not an essential element for health. In fact, optimal health lies in keeping the amount of carbohydrates in the diet to a minimum.

The supermarket departments that contain the healthy essential proteins and essential fats are the fresh meats, fresh fish and seafood, dairy and non-starchy vegetables. Everything else in the store is very high in carbohydrates, which turn to glucose, hype the metabolism and trigger the release of disease-causing hormones like insulin, cortisol and adrenaline.

Another study published by the Mayo Clinic, showed that senior adults with a diet consisting of high carbohydrates had an increased risk for Alzheimer’s disease. The study stated that these seniors  may have almost four times the normal risk of mild cognitive impairment, a mental change that may precede Alzheimer’s disease.

It isn’t all carbohydrates that are deadly either. There are natural carbohydrates that are harmless to humans, but big corporations have manipulated them for profit. These carbs are called refined carbohydrates. Refined carbs have been stripped of almost all fiber, vitamins and minerals. For this reason, they can be considered as “empty” calories. They are also digested quickly, and have a high glycemic index. This means that they lead to rapid spikes in blood sugar and insulin levels after meals. Eating foods high on the glycemic index has been linked to overeating and increased risk of many diseases, including cancer.

One Delicious Combination Will Boost Attention Better Than Any Other Drink

Researchers from Clarkson University as well as the University of Georgia have recently studied the effects of caffeinated versus not caffeinated brewed cocoa on our attention spans. The results were quite interesting!

The results from this study were published in BMC Nutrition and showed that the combination of fatigue fighting coffee and cocoa that reduces stress was the best possible combination for boosting one’s attention span. This means if you don’t already partake in the consumption of mocha you may want to start. You see cocoa increases the cerebral blood flow that works to increase cognition and attention and caffeine by itself can increase anxiety, however, together they counter one another for the best results possible.

According to this study, the cocoa lessens the caffeine’s anxiety-producing effects. This study took a year to complete and in this researchers had participants drink brewed cocoa with and without caffeine. They used a placebo with neither caffeine nor cocoa and tested the effects by evaluating the subjects moods and ability to perform cognitive tasks. The study was also something called a double blind study which is a study in which the participants and the researchers are unaware of which substance is being tested.

Ali Boolani of Clarkson University says that this study was fun and that the results are without a doubt promising. The group will be doing follow up studies for this at Clarkson in order to assess natural caffeine versus synthetic caffeine and he is quite excited about those. This may be the bit of information you need to get a coffee maker set up at work. If you are feeling a bit sluggish don’t just go for coffee make sure you aim for mocha the cocoa makes a huge difference!

For a healthy homemade mocha, you will need:

Ingredients:

Koffee Kult Dark Roast coffee, made as two espresso shots or brewed very strong,
1 tbs. unsweetened cocoa powder,
1 packet stevia,
1/4 tsp. coconut oil and
1 1/2 to 2 cups unsweetened coconut milk (from a carton) or your favorite milk.

Directions:

To make the mocha, brew the espresso or brew a strong cup of coffee. Combine the coffee with 1 tbs. cocoa powder, 1/4 tsp. coconut oil and froth to combine. If you don’t have a frother, you can also use an immersion or bullet style blender or small whisk to ensure the coconut oil gets blended well in with the coffee. Add the stevia and stir again.

You will want to microwave your coconut milk for 2 minutes on high. Froth with a hand frother or steam with the attachment on your espresso machine. Your immersion blender will also work well!

Pour the coconut milk over the chocolate espresso mixture. You may want to top this with shaved unsweetened chocolate or coconut whipped cream. Enjoy!

  • 1 Green Apple
  • 1 Kiwi

  • 1 green apple
